How to Stay Dry in the Rain

Calculate how fast to walk in the rain to stay as dry as possible, with or without an umbrella.

This calculator was inspired by a MythBusters episode that tested the same thing. The show tested whether running or walking worked better to keep clothes dry in the rain and found that walking worked better, but using math we can predict exactly what the ideal pace is under ideal conditions.

Results are expressed in ml contacted per km in rainfall at a rate of 1cm/h.
